Completion of the Blue Lotus School of Shiatsu curriculum
qualifies a graduate for entry level practice of Shiatsu and
Asian Bodywork Therapy according to the standards set by the
American Organization
of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA). Graduates are also
eligible for national board certification by the National
Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(NCCAOM).
The Blue Lotus School of Shiatsu curriculum
is designed to prepare students for the national board exam
for Asian Bodywork Therapy administered by the NCCAOM. Upon
satisfactory completion of the exam, graduates will become
NCCAOM certified Diplomats of Asian Bodywork Therapy. The
NCCAOM Board Certification is considered by many to represent
the highest credential attainable for the professional practice
of Asian Bodywork Therapy.
Shiatsu therapists must also comply with local and state licensing
requirements as they apply. Currently, the state of Michigan
does not license or regulate the practice of shiatsu therapy.
